As you may know, I’m obsessed with paper products, specifically notebooks (have you seen the paper products I love here? or here? Clearly my obsession is TOO REAL) so it’s probably no surprise that I LOVE a well-designed planner. When I met Jenna from J.Lynn Designery via social media and discovered her Refresh Planner, I quickly found my holy grail organizing tool! It has absolutely become my saving grace when it comes to planning and organizing my life. It’s durable and easy to carry every day in my purse or bag, which is super important to me as a working girl navigating downtown Dallas during the week. I love that I can view the entire month or week at-a-glance and create daily to-do lists for myself all in one place. Plus, since your girl has grabbed the bull by the horns and launched a blog with big dreams in mind, setting goals for this new year is now a huge priority. Here are some tips for goal setting, and how I use my Refresh Planner to stay on track!
Set 90-day goals
I recently heard this tip from one of my favorite business podcasts, The School of Self-Mastery by Adrienne Dorison (let me know if you want more podcast recommendations!) to set your goals for the year in 90-day increments instead of focusing on year-long goals. Here’s why: year-long goals are actually harder for us to tackle because they can overwhelm us and discourage us if we’re not accomplishing them. In order to achieve our goals we need to set our limit for 90-days and reverse-engineer our goals in order to accomplish them. This means setting a goal and breaking that goal down into monthly, then weekly, then daily tasks. This way, we’re able see all the steps we need to take clearly and efficiently so we can accomplish our overall goal. The Refresh Planner provides quarterly sections (these are your 90-day sections) where you can further break down big goals into baby goals, which is a great way to visually lay out step-by-step what needs to be done in order to accomplish your big goal. This is super helpful for not just goal setting, but goal crushing. 🙂
Reward yourself for small achievements
For each baby goal you accomplish, reward yourself! Spend time reflecting and celebrating every task you complete towards accomplishing a goal. In her podcast episode, I love how Adrienne compares completing a task to sowing a seed for success. By completing a baby goal in the process of accomplishing your bigger goal, you get one step closer to reaping the rewards. You go girl!
Write it all down
According to Adrienne’s podcast, if you simply write down a goal you’re 42% more likely to accomplish that goal than if you were to just keep a mental log of this goal in your head. So go ahead and use the space in your Refresh Planner to be very specific and intentional with your goals. These goal setting pages conveniently serve as a place to track and store your goals so you will always have them on hand.
Another helpful tip: List each 90-day goal at the top of every weekly or daily to-do list to prioritize and increase visibility so you’re more likely to complete your goals on time.
Mantra your way to success
I love that Jenna has included space for a motivational mantra for each goal plan. It’s such a great way to encourage positive energy and focus for each week! Having a mantra or positive saying is a great way to stay focused and maintain an up-beat attitude so you can live productively and abundantly.
With these tips and tricks, 2017– I’m so ready for ya! What’re some of your goals for the new year, friend? If you’re like me and need the perfect planner to keep everything in one place, make sure to check out the Refresh Planner!
